Highlander’s Buried Identity – Extended Epilogue
Five years after Finlay became the laird of the Craig clan, the past seemed like a distant dream, not just to him, but also to his people. He and Sine had managed to undo the damage that Seoras had caused to the clan, bringing peace and prosperity to the people and lifting them out of poverty.
Sine had helped him more than anyone, as she reached out to the people and showed him what they truly needed.
The two of them were enjoying breakfast, which included Mrs. Baran’s famous bannocks, along with Finlay’s mother, when their little girl Freya ran to the room, chased by a maid, as she usually was.
“Forgive me, my lady. I tried to stop her,” the maid said, but Sine simply waved her hand dismissively.
“It’s quite alright,” she assured her. “Freya, come here.”
Once Freya was within reach, Sine pulled her up to her lap, tapping the tip of her nose with her finger. She smiled as Freya laughed, her tiny hands reaching for Sine neck and her arms wrapping around her.
Finlay watched them with a smile on his face. They didn’t look alike, not even close; where Sine had dark hair, Freya had fiery red, and where Sine had pale, porcelain skin, Freya was dotted with constellations of freckles. Still, he could think of them as nothing else but mother and daughter.
Freya had come into their life when her mother—one of their servants—died at birth. Neither Finlay nor Sine could bear leaving the child alone, so after two years of being unable to conceive their own child, they adopted her and decided to raise her as their own,.
Now Freya was of three years of age, and Mrs Baran liked to point out that she was just as feisty as her father, keeping everyone on their toes at all times.
“Shall we go and play?” Sine asked Freya, once they had all finished their breakfast. Freya nodded, and the two of them rushed outside, Sine chasing her little girl around.
She had so much to show her and teach her, and she tried to spend as much time as she could with her every day, either just the two of them together or with Finlay, who would often sneak out of Padraig’s watchful gaze to neglect his duties and play with his daughter instead.
That wasn’t one of those days, though, so Sine and Freya ran around the Craig land alone: just the two of them, as mother and daughter.
Neither of them noticed the woman that was watching them from afar, nor her own child.
Nora put a hand on her son’s shoulder, urging him to follow her back home. They had been around the Craig land for too long already, and she didn’t want to spend a single moment longer there.
Her stomach churned every time she laid eyes upon Lady Craig and her daughter, but even more so when she saw the laird. The entire Craig family was her enemy, as long as she was concerned, and one that she would make sure to annihilate before it was too late.
She was running out of years, after all. Soon, she would be getting too old for revenge.
“Did ye see them?” she asked her son. “They are the most vile, terrible creatures in this world. I think they are not even human…no, they are demons, sent here by Satan himself to torture us. One day…one day, ye’ll have yer chance to defeat them.”
The boy said nothing, but he glanced at the woman and her daughter over his shoulder, a sliver of hatred boiling up in his gut.
One day, he would have his chance.

I do not like this ending, although it gives you another story to create.
Thank you for giving my story a chance! I hope that you enjoyed it and yes something else is coming as well 😉
I want more. I enjoyed the story. I really loved Sine and Findlay. I thought it was great. I was curious as well what happen to Mairi. It just left me hanging and a need to know more. How can I get the next book?
It’s going to be out real soon my dear Shonte! 😀
I enjoyed the book but the ending wasn’t the best. It would be great if you placed the ending in the book and not have to give an email address to finish the book.
Hello! Thank you so much for reading my book! The novel can be read without the Extended Epilogue. I just want to give a taste of what is to come <3
Love the characters and the action in the scenes. Enjoyed the epilogue and hoping for more involving the Craig Clan.
Thank you so much my sweet Angie! I’m so happy to hear it <3
Enjoyed this storyline and characters. Hope to hear more about this clan.
I’m so glad that you liked it! Thank you so much! <3
Good storyline. Enjoyed the characters
I’m so grateful that you read my first book! Thank you so so much! 😀
I love the storyline of Sine and Finley! Wonderful story, I loved the action in the book! I would love to read more about Freya. I want to see what Nora’s problem is with Sine and Finlay’s family! Great book!
Thank you so much Donna! 😀 I’m so happy that you gave my first book a chance
I liked the concept of the story. Finlay had a great storyline. Sine was to me portrayed as a young girl in the beginning. Later as her relationship grew did she seem more mature.
The epilogue you lost me.
Who was Nora? And why after all they went through didn’t they have a least one child ,then adopt? After so invested in their story I wanted to feel happy for them. And don’t.
Thank you so much for reading my first book Marcy! I’m truly honored. There is more to come for Clan Craig and soon, all mysteries will dissolve 🙂
Good storyline. The epilogue was an addition too. Hope to hear more of this clan in future story’s.
Thank you so much my dear Pauline! <3 There is more to come for clan Craig 😉
Thoroughly enjoyed your book. The interaction between Sine and Finlay was fun. Started out as bit of a battle of will and wit and soften but they still went ar each other though in a playful way. Well, ya got us wondering what’s up with Nora. Where she came from and what shenanigans she’s training her son up to pull.
I’m so happy that you enjoyed it my sweet Kim! I hope that the continuance will be enjoyable as well 😀
I enjoyed the book. I liked how their relationship developed. The epilogue was a bit sad for me, especially because the book ended with them taking about making babies.
Thank you my dear Jayde! They found love with wee Freya though <3
I like the ending of this book, however, I think they should conceive there own children. I look forward to reading more about this clan.
Thank you so much my dear Tamika! <3
I don’t like the ending also but I have faith that book 2 will correct the problem.
Thank you for reading my first book my dear Gwen! The novel can be read without the Extended Epilogue. I just want to give a taste of what is to come. All mysteries will dissolve <3
I enjoyed the book loved how the characters developed into themselves throughout the book looking forward to.seeing what book 2 holds
I’m so glad my sweet Sarah! Thank you for giving me a chance 😀
I agree with many of the comments here. The storyline had less twists and turns than some of your other books and was refreshing. Nice character development; Sine did mature through her relationship with Finley and Finley gained confidence. Interesting storyline and great descriptions to include the fighting scenes. You do have a continuity problem between the end of chapter 13 (Sine is sitting on Finley’s bed as he comes through the door) and the start of 14 ( Finley is on the bed and then pulls Sine into the room). Also, it is a shame you dropped Finley’s adopted mother from the book, why didnt she move to Craig with them? And, like others I hope Sine and Finley have more children (theirown or adopted)..
I agree, I was wondering what happened to Mairi an expected to hear of another child, at least on the way.
Thank you Arlene! 🙂
Thank you for giving my book a chance Anita! I’m really honored 🙂
I agree with you… that was my thought as well. Continuity is very important to inveterate readers…as is grammatical errors when switching POV’s. Would have loved to hear that Mairi has joined them in the extended epilogue…she’d said clearly that she would follow them. Also would’ve loved to have included a uniting of motherhood…bonding the two mothers into a close friendship. Who couldn’t use two sitting grandmothers? 😊
Sorry… Autocorrect error…two doting grandmothers. 😋
Everyone loves doting Grandmothers <3
Thank you for the feedback Gayle! <3
I enjoyed the story very much. I wish the epilogue didn’t end with a woman and child hating the Craig’s without any idea of why.
Giving my first book a chance Arlene. The novel can be read without the Extended Epilogue. I just want to give a taste of what is to come. All mysteries will dissolve <3
Interesting novel. I liked the characters. I wish Finley had taken his foster mother with him. I wasn’t sure if his mother died of a servant died. The ending was somewhat confusing. I hate things left dangling instead of happily ever after.
Thank you my dear Kathy! There are certainly more things to come for Clan Craig 🙂
Ahhh…but what an awesome lead in to the sequel!
I hope that you enjoyed the adventures of Clan Graig <3
After reading your bool, I enjoyed the characters. Finley and Sine were a good fit. If I could change anything, it would be someone hating them at the end of the extended epilogue.
Thank you my dear Debra. We have not seen the end of Clan Craig yet 😉
Enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to read the follow up. Sounds interesting Few problems with continuity where people positioning seem to change. Also why was Mairi not even noted at the end. There should have been a meeting between her and his real mother
I’m glad you enjoyed it dear Mary! 🙂
I just want to say I did enjoy this book. I started it at 10p.m. Last night and finished it this morning. I was sad to see it end. I wished it was longer. I hope you will write another book elaborating on the ending of the extended epilogue. I’m sure it will be exciting just as this book was. Please think about it if it isn’t already in the works.
To anyone reading my comments please note this book is worth reading so grab your favorite drink put your feet up and enjoy. Happy reading.
That warmed my heart my dear Marie! Thank you so much <3
I agree with Anita’s comments. Also, if you are setting up the next story in the series, why not hint at a reason for enmity or have the boy focus on the little girl with his hate.
Thank you for reading my first novel my dear Jo. Soon all the questions about it will be answered 🙂
Good to finally know the secrets of the main character & have a satisfying result. Not sure about the epilogue so think it is for a future story.
Soon my dear Jeanette, we will visit the Craig Clan again 🙂
I liked the story plot. I really wanted to see Mairi brought into the Craig castle and for her to becomes friends with Finley’s mother. I would also like to see sine become involved with health caring for the craig people With their healer.
Thank you my dear Sandy! I’m so grateful
Very entertaining book, I read it in one sitting, I was a bit put off that Maori, the woman who raise him did not follow like she said in the story. I was also hoping that they would be pregnant and have the twins. All in all the storylines were captivating for me.
Mairi
I’m glad that you enjoyed it my dear Jennifer! Thank you so much 🙂
Very good. When can we expect the next episode?
“Highlander’s Twisted Identity” is already out my dear Joann! <3
I enjoyed Finley’s story. Will be sure to read the continuing story
Thank you so much my dear Eve! It’s coming reeeeeal soon 😉
What a perfect lead in to the sequel! I hope they do eventually get a child of their own, but either way…what a beautiful reflection of how Finlay was raised…an adopted bairn by a woman full of love for a boy left alone in the world.
Now a shadow lies upon them, unbeknownst to them, but it draws nothing away from the joy of their family…or the wonder of life in Clan Craig! Very good story! 👍🏼👏🏼
Thank you my sweet Gayle! The next story of Craig Clan “Highlander’s Twisted Identity” is already out 😉
Enjoyed the story but did not care for the ending
Thank you Patricia! Maybe you will give the next one a chance one day 🙂
I loved it and can not wait to read more books from China Thompson
Thank you so much my sweet Barbara! <3
Love de book! Beautiful love story! Highly recommend it! 🙏🌷
Thank you so much Nilda <3
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was romantic, & funny. Of course, from the title alone I knew Finlay, was more than an orphan.
I really liked the part where the whole of his life was explained. The resolution of Sine’s wedding was touching.
I do wish they had children of their own.
Thank you so much for your sweet words Nancy! Maybe you will give the next book in the series a chance 😉
Interesting story, how many of us were that wilful young girl? I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and was very pleased with the way things turned out. I do love a HEA!
Thank you so much for your sweet words Carol! <3
Enjoyed the story kept me interested. I think you have another in mind with the ending of epilogue? Interesting!
The next book “Highlander’s Twisted Identity” is already out 😉
It seemed as though there was a wee bit to much repetition. Sine was the interesting as she had more of a developed character that I enjoyed immensely. Thank you
Thank you Phyllis! <3
Really enjoyed this book and I loved the character Findlay. I’m glad the demise of Laird Craig was not a long drawn out ordeal like in so many other books I read. I would like to have read that Mairi, his adopted mother, was a part of his new life. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
I’m so happy that you enjoyed it Deb <3 "Highlander's Twisted Identity" is out already! 😉
A page turning story that is well plotted being somewhat disturbing in the extended epilog. One love for another.
Thank you so much Wa! 😀
Wow! Read it in one day!!!!
I’m so happy you enjoyed it Honore! <3
What a Wonderful Twist!!
So enjoyed the characters and the every page of this book ! Epilogue was Great, would like to see another Sequel !
Thank you my dear Patti! We might see more soon!
I love highland Stories especially the way highland men are depicted always respectful of women
Thank you for your comments my lovely Emma!
Thank you.
💜
Book kept me totally involved. The ending threw me for a loop. Now I have know what happens next.
I am so happy to hear that my dear Ann💜
A great read, enjoyed it immensely but did wonder what happened to Mairi. Can’t wait to read the next book. Thank you for a wonderful story.
Thank you my dear Moira. I hope you will enjoy it💜
Loved the book!! I was disappointed that she wasn’t pregnant with her own child on the 2nd epilogue. Saying that I loved that they had adopted their daughter and was back to being impressed. Then the threat at the end took away my happy ending. Looking forward to reading that so I hopefully get my wish. I hope it isn’t too expensive tho.
My dear Linda thank you for your comments!💜Just to let you know, all my books are sold on Amazon for 0.99c.
Sine and Finley are an interesting pair. How they meet and ultimately become friends and fall in love sets the tone for the whole book. Sine does not let anyone stop her from doing and being who she wants to be. Helping her people be better is what Sine does. Finley is just trying to blend and fade into the dusk. He believes he wants to be a loner. Little does he know that what drives him to be the good person he is also is what forces him to come out of hiding and show his true real self.
I’m glad that you enjoyed it my dear Liz! Thank you so much!
Enjoyed this book immensely.
Thank you my dear Carol💜
Really enjoyed Sine and Finlay’s story. Looking forward to the other books in the series.
Thank you my dear Jeana! 💜
A very well written book and very interesting. I could not put the book down until I finished reading it.
I am so glad to hear this my dear Janice!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love how Finaly and Sine fell in love, slowly as friends firs and then lovers. My concern is how could Finaly ever truly trust Paridge after he had helped to kill Finaly’s father. And of course I wonder what happened to Marie, Finaly’s adoptive mother. Over all a very good book. Thank you I look forward to the next book.
Vicky
Thank you for your words. I am so happy you enjoyed my dear Vicky!
Amazing book. The character development was awesome I felt I really knew them. Looking forward to future books.
I hope you will enjoy them my dear Marian!💜
I can’t wait to see how the family will fair
Soon my dear Marsha…💜
This was a good story. The only unbelievable thing for me was Finley and Sine spending so much time together. She would have been chaperoned much closer. Girls did not have freedom like that. It was a very hard life, that’s for sure, I enjoyed this story, and would like to read about their family growing and leading their clan.
Thank you for your feedback my dear Lesley. It is well noted.💜
Really enjoyed reading this book. I was just a little disappointed in Findlay’ s character, he seemed rather weak to start off, but soon became stronger as the story progressed.
I am glad you enjoyed it my dear Peter!
I loved everything about this book, all of the characters and of course the love story. Growing closer together as a couple was beautiful to read. Wow! the chemistry between them. Thank you for writing such a great story,
Thank you so much my lovely Ann!😍
I truly enjoyed this story! Original story line for me. I did pick up on Anita’s comments and agreed with most other comments. But this is a great book in my opinion. I would love to read the next book, however, my limited budget caused me to sign up for Kindle Unlimited so unless it’s there I probably won’t have the chance. Loved this story. Character development was perfect. Best wishes for more!
Thank you my dear Susan for your warm words! All my books can be found on Kindle Unlimited. 😊
The story was very straight forward, without any real surprises. I liked the characters and their personalities. Finlay became more confident and Sine was maturing as well. I personally would have appreciated more “surprises”. I was disappointed that Mairi, Finlay’s other mother did not follow them to the Craig lands and that Finlay and Sine had no children of their own.
Thank you my dear Katherine for your feedback!💜
I did not enjoy the extended ending. Left too much unfinished. So much could have been included before it ended. Enjoyed the book until the end.
Well, the next one in the series “Highlander’s Twisted Identity” is already out and will solve every question! 😉
Thank you for a wonderful read once I picked it up I only put it down to get my 2nd ciovid sot and have ba celebration dinner thank you again can’t wait to read another of your books. Starting now @ 11:30pm I’m an insomneac
Wow! Dear Pam, your words make me feel so honored! I’m so glad you enjoy my books!
This was a super book. Shona never disappoints.
Dear Robyn, thank you so much for your kind words! Your feedback is always important to me! <3
What a great book. I enjoyed every moment of it. I hope the extended epilogue will be the next book. It would be nice if the extended epilogue included the name of the next book since it introduces the next characters. It could say ( be sure to read their story in…….) It would be so helpful.
Dear Carol, thank you so much for your kind words! Truth is, I don’t always know the title of the next book when I finish one! The extended epilogue is usually a small glimpse into the couple’s future, as I have envisioned it! <3
Hello,
Loved, Loved this story!
Excited to see if there will be an extended book!
Thank you for your great writing😊.

Loved this story. Read it in a day. The characters were described in such a way that they drew you in and felt their emotions. The storyline was great. Loved Finley and Sine and how they each complimented to other to bring them to who they were meant to be.
I’m so happy that you liked the story my dear Rosemary! 😀
I love this story of Findlay and Sine’s love, and that everything came together for them in the end. Thank you for this one!
I’m so happy that you enjoyed it so much my dear Valarie! 😀
Enjoyed the book lots. Sine & Finley great characters. Good story!! I was disappointed in the extended story. I was hoping they had their own child or children. Ended way to quick. Was hoping to hear a lot to wrap up the stories then the next book coming in. But, all in all, enjoyed the read.
Thank you my dear Dianna! Real parents are the ones who love you and stand by you. 🙂
I enjoyed this book very much it was well written I liked the way his identity was revealed. A really good read.

A good story and extended epilogue leaving the reader with a expectation
I’m so glad you liked it, my sweet Gwen! ❤️
Enjoy the book, kept you guessing what secret Finley was so afraid of getting out. Just a great read
Thank you so much, my lovely Donna! ❤️
I felt that the beginning was very slow but soon picked. He was so brave at first and then seemed weak. Sine pulled him from that. But what happened to Maire. She said she would follow him wherever he went. I wanted to share in her happiness. I would definitely read again.
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Diana! I’m so glad you liked the story! ❤️
I loved this story. Well written and not to long. I enjoy stories that are not dragged out to the point of boredom.
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Patricia! I’m so glad you enjoyed the story! ❤️
Wow! What a great read. I truly enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to reading more about Sine and Finley.
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Linda! I’m so happy you liked the story! ❤️
Nice read
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Fran! ❤️
Is that all? Leave a person hanging
Thank you for your honest feedback, dear Cheryl! You can check the next two sequels from the series and I’m sure everything will be much clearer. Hope you’ll like them!
This is an interesting story, it’s premise focuses on a man that that is not the usual tough bad boy warrior who’s looks make women faint! He finds his strength through a strong and carefree woman, I enjoyed it,
Have to say though, I love the hard headed never going to love or marry types who get knocked of their feet by the women they think they don’t like! Best HEA!
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Rosemary! It means the world! ❤️
Easy and enjoyable to read! A page-turner with likable characters who you want to succeed in building a happy life.
Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Maxie! It means the world! ❤️
Another book I just couldn’t put down. A great plot, plenty of braw characters and an ending that makes one want to read the next in the series to find out what happens. A good read and highly recommended.
My dear Evelyn, you are always so kind! Thank you for your support and great comments! It means the world!
Loved Finlay and Sine story. The building tension, the drama, the love conquering all. Keep up the great work.
Thank you my dear Jane for your kind words! I am so glad you loved the story of Finlay and Sine!
